Every good story starts small, and for Chris, it began with a hundred chicks and a whole lot of heart. Chris may not share the Joubert family name, but his love for Driefontein runs just as deep. To him, the farm is more than a place of work — it’s home, and the people here are family.

With a lifelong passion for chickens, Chris started raising hens on the farm, never imagining how quickly word would spread about the quality of his eggs. What began as a small idea soon grew into something much bigger: today, Driefontein Eggs supply the whole of Bethulie, and reach as far as Smithfield, Aliwal, and Venterstad. You’ll even find them at local guesthouses and hotels, bringing a taste of our farm to travelers and families alike.

What makes these eggs different is the love and care behind every tray. Chris often says he knows each egg by heart, and while that might sound impossible, it speaks to the dedication and pride he pours into the work. Unlike big commercial operations, Driefontein Eggs carry the touch of real people — from the hands that gather them to the families who enjoy them.

From a humble flock of one hundred to an operation that now feeds households across four towns, Chris hasn’t lost sight of why he started. For him, it’s not about numbers — it’s about people.
